Zeolite

What is zeolite?

Clinoptilolite zeolite is a natural mineral of volcanic origin with a microporous structure: each granule retains water, adsorbs certain substances and exchanges ions — which lets it capture moisture, ammonium and odours while keeping its mineral structure. It is stable, incombustible, odourless, insoluble in water and not classified as hazardous.

In animal feed

Used in suitable feeding programs (poultry, laying hens, cattle, fish), clinoptilolite helps get more out of the ration: better feed utilisation and feed conversion, support for growth, eggshell quality in laying hens, and binding of part of dietary aflatoxins in the digestive tract. As an anti-caking agent, it limits lumps and keeps feed flowing.

In bedding and in the barn

Incorporated into bedding material, zeolite retains part of the moisture and captures ammonium: drier litter, less ammonia and odour, better comfort for the animals and the people working with them, and droppings that are easier to manage.

In fish farming and water filtration

As a freshwater filtration media, clinoptilolite captures part of the dissolved ammonium: hatcheries, fry tanks, recirculating systems, live fish transport and effluent treatment. It is also used in fish feed (tilapia, sea bream) to support growth and feed efficiency.

Product characteristics

  • Clinoptilolite: 90 to 97%
  • Cation exchange capacity: about 2.0 meq/g
  • Specific surface: about 40 m²/g
  • Powder or granules depending on grade — 0-30 and 0-40 granule sizes available in 25 kg bags
